Marbella confirmed as host of Davis Cup clash between Great Britain and Spain next year
The matches will be played from 2nd - 4th February 2018 on the centre court of the resort's Puente Romano hotel
The first round clash of next year's Davis Cup World Group between Spain and Great Britain will be played on Marbella's Golden Mile, it was announced on Thursday. The resort beat off local competition from the city of Granada to stage the event.

Members of the Spanish Royal Tennis Federation (RFET) voted at a meeting in Zaragoza on Wednesday for the Costa del Sol bid. As is etiquette, the captain of the Spanish team, recently appointed Sergi Bruguera, then needed to be consulted. He asked the players, who agreed with the choice of Marbella.
The matches will be played on the centre court of the tennis complex at the Puente Romano hotel. Its clay surface is said to favour the Spanish team's style of play, as is the mild winter climate on the coast.
The Puente Romano has hosted the Davis Cup before, in 1989, when Spain played Mexico. The last time the competition was in the resort was in 2009, when the old Puerto Banús bullring was used. Stands will be put up so 8,500 spectators can attend the 2018 venue.
